Report information about tobacco to the Danish Safety Technology Authority and the European Commission

Manufacturers and importers of tobacco, which is marketed in Denmark, must report information about all ingredients in the tobacco to the Danish Safety Technology Authority. The reports/notifications must be submitted digitally via the common EU system, EU-CEG – Central Entry Gate.

Information about ingredients and emissions must be reported for all tobacco products

Regarding information about which information to be reported, reference is made to section 2 of ”Indberetning af oplysninger om tobaksvarer til Sikkerhedsstyrelsen og Europa-Kommissionen”(Reporting of tobacco products to the  Danish Safety Technology Authority and the European Commission) in the law on tobacco, etc. 

Report on examination of additives

Manufacturers and importers must carry out comprehensive examinations of additives entered on the prioritized list of the EC-Commission. A report must be drawn up and forwarded to the Danish Safety Technology Authority and the Commission.

Annual reporting

Manufacturers and importers of tobacco, which is marketed in this country, must report information about sales volume for the precedent year to the Danish Safety Technology Authority for products, which they market, no later than May 1st each year. You should be aware that data for the current year must be submitted as a supplement to any previously submitted data. Please ensure that data submitted for previous years remain visible.

Herbal products for smoking must be reported to the Danish Safety Technology Authority

Manufacturers and importers, who market herbal products for smoking, must report information about the composition of the products to the Danish Safety Technology Authority.

Novel tobacco products must be notified to the Danish Safety Technology Authority

Novel tobacco products are only allowed to be marketed in Denmark if they have been notified to the Danish Safety Technology Authority. Each manufacturer and importer who wants to market a novel tobacco product must give notification no later than six months before marketing begins.

Tobacco surrogates

Tobacco surrogates marketed in Denmark have to be registered.

Digital reporting through The EU Common Entry Gate (EU-CEG)

All notifications and reporting regarding tobacco to the Danish Safety Technology Authority has to be made digitally through the joint EU-system, EU-CEG - Central Entry Gate.
